The 8 days african vacation safari takes you to two african safari destinations in Rwanda that is volcanoes national park and nyungwe forest national park. The african safari offers an opportunity to tourists to have an experience of gorilla trekking and chimpanzee trekking. Besides that, tourists can engage in other activities such as a hike to Dian Fossey, cultural experience at the iby’iwacu village and canopy walk among others. DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1; Arrival in Kigali

Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, the safari guide will warmly welcome you and brief you about the african safari. Depending on your time of the arrival, you will embark on your Kigali city tour, where you will visit places like the Kigali genocide memorial, kimironko market, Kigali convention enter and the art craft shops among others.

After the Kigali city tour, you will be transferred to your hotel in Kigali. On arrival, you will check in and refreshen up as well prepare for the next day activities.

Day 2: Transfer to volcanoes national park

After morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey volcanoes national park. on arrival, you will check into your booked hotel for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in volcanoes

Early in the morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will be grouped in groups of 8 individuals and allocated to a gorilla family. After, you will enter into the forest in search of the gorilla family. the trekking takes 3 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gentle giants.

Once the gorilla family is located, you will spend an hour with the family as you watch them play, breast feed, nurture their young ones as well as groom each other. After, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Hike to Dian Fossey grave and visit to the iby’iwacu cultural village

After morning breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing about the hike. After, you will embark on the hike to the Dian Fossey grave. While on the hike, you will pass through various vegetation zones where you will have the opportunity to spot animal species such as elephants, duikers, and monkeys.

On arrival at the Karisoke research centre, you will as well see the grave of Dian Fossey who was murdered by unknown people in 1985. Dian Fossey was buried next to hare favourite gorilla known as Digit. After, you will return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will have a visit to the iby’iwacu cultural village. While at the cultural village, you will have the opportunity to learn the Rwanda tradition and culture such as their way of dressing, making local foods, traditional dances and making of the local banana brew among others thus making your african safari a memorable one. After, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5; Transfer to Nyungwe national park

After breakfast in the morning, you will check out of the lodge and embark of the journey to nyungwe forest national park. on arrival, you will check into the hotel for a relaxation, dinner and prepare for the next day activities.

Day 6; Chimpanzee trekking

In the morning, have breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will be head into the forest to search for the chimpanzees. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch the play, jump from one branch to another. The chimpanzee trekking takes 30 minutes to 4 hours. After the trekking, return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Canopy walk and nature hike

In the early morning after breakfast, head into the forest for a canopy walk. The trail starts from Uwinka reception centre where you will be briefed and meet your guide. After, begin the hike from Igishigishigi and then the 160m suspended bridge that is hanged on a huge strong tree on top of the ancient biodiverse forest. While on the walk, you will spot various animals moving such as the duikers, golden cats, elephants and impalas as well as primates like monkeys and chimpanzees among others. After, return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, embark on a nature walk on the scenic hiking trails within the forest. While on the trails, you will explore the forest with its amazing wonders thus making your african vacation safari a memorable one. After the guided nature walk, return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Departure

Waking up at leisure, have breakfast and check out of the lodge. After, embark on the journey back to Kigali. On arrival depending on your departure time, you can have your last minute shopping before being dropped at the international airport for your flight back home.
