DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Arrive at Kigali international airport where your professional safari guide will welcome you. Depending on your arrival time, embark on a short city tour featuring key highlights such as the Kigali genocide memorial, kimironko market or the art craft shops. After, you will proceed and head to your lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
After breakfast, begin your scenic drive to Nyungwe forest national park. Along the way, pass through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside with rolling hills, tea plantations and charming villages. on arrival at the lodge, check in for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe forest
Enjoy an early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking. follow expert trackers through the lush forest to locate one of the habituated chimpanzee group. Once located, spend an hour with them as you watch them forage, groom and swing through the treetops. After the trekking, return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Nyungwe canopy walk and nature exploration
After breakfast, embark on the famous Nyungwe canopy walk which is a 90-meter suspension bridge offering stunning views over the rainforest canopy and excellent birdwatching opportunities. The rest of the day can be spent on optional activities such as hiking trails and many more. After, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer to akagera national park
Depart nyungwe after breakfast for a scenic drive to Akagera national park. arrive in the late afternoon and check into your lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Full day game drives in Akagera
Start the day early with a full day game drive through Akagera’s diverse landscapes from open plains to wooded savannah and wetlands. Look out for elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes and the parks reintroduced lions and rhinos. After, return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Boat safari on lake ihema and transfer back to Kigali
After breakfast, enjoy a relaxing boat safari on lake Ihema where you will spot hippos, crocodiles and a variety of water birds such as kingfishers and African fish eagles. After return to the lodge for lunch. After, check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali. On arrival, you will be dropped off at Kigali international airport for your flight back home.
