DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Arrive at Kigali international airport where your professional safari guide will welcome you. Depending on your arrival time, embark on a short city tour featuring key highlights such as Kigali genocide memorial, kimironko market and craft shops. On arrival, check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to volcanoes national park
After breakfast, begin your scenic drive to volcanoes national park. on arrival, check into the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, visit the iby’iwacu cultural village where you will get to learn more about the Rwandan culture and traditions. Get to watch their traditional dance by the intore dance troupe and singing performances. After the visit, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking in volcanoes national park
Enjoy an early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. Hike through dense rainforest to track one of the habituated gorilla families. Spend an hour observing their behaviour and capturing incredible photographs. After, return to the lodge for late lunch, a relaxation and dinner.
Day 4: Golden monkey trekking and transfer to lake Kivu
Start your day with a golden monkey trek in volcanoes national park where you will watch these playful and agile primates in their natural. After the trek, drive to lake Kivu and check into your lakeside lodge. Spend the evening relaxing along the lakes shore, taking a sunset stroll. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: lake Kivu relaxation
Wake up to the peaceful sounds of lake Kivu and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Spend the day relaxing by the lake or taking part in optional activities such as kayaking, swimming or a boat trip to explore nearby islands. This slower paced day provides a refreshing balance to the adventurous first half of your African vacation safari.
Day 6: Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park and canopy walk
After breakfast, depart for Nyungwe national park, a scenic 5-6 hours drive through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside and tea plantations. Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon check in and relax as you prepare for the next day’s chimpanzee trekking adventure.
Day 7: chimpanzee trekking and Nyungwe canopy walk and return to Kigali.
An early breakfast, then join your guide for a thrilling chimpanzee trekking experience in nyungwe forest. Observe these intelligent primates in their natural habitat as they forage, communicate and leap through the treetops.
After the trek, experience the Nyungwe canopy walk, a 90-meter suspension bridge that offers breathtaking views of the rainforest. In the afternoon, begin your return journey to Kigali for your evening departure.
