DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to volcanoes national park
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, meet your professional safari guide and embark on the journey to volcanoes national park. enjoy breathtaking views of Rwanda’s rolling hills and volcanic peaks along the way. On arrival, check into your lodge and relax as you prepare for the start of your African vacation safari.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking
Start your day with an early breakfast, then proceed to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. Hike through the misty rainforest to track one of the habituated gorilla families. Spend one magical hour in their presence, observing their behaviour and capturing incredible photographs. After, return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and transfer to nyungwe forest
After breakfast, set off a golden monkey trekking experience in volcanoes national park. these playful and energetic primates are unique to the Virunga mountains and offer a thrilling and less strenuous trekking adventure.
After the trek, embark on your journey scenic journey to nyungwe national park, passing through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside, tea plantations and rolling hills. Arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking in nyungwe forest
Rise early and head to the park headquarters for chimpanzee trekking briefing. With an experienced guide, venture into the dense rainforest to locate wild chimpanzees. Watch them swing through the trees, forage for food and interact with one another in their natural environment. After the trek, return to the lodge for a relaxed afternoon enjoying the serene beauty of the forest.
Day 5: Nyungwe canopy walk and nature trails
After breakfast, experience the famous Nyungwe canopy walk which is a 70 meters high suspension bridge offering unparalleled views of the rainforest canopy. Spot monkeys, birds and butterflies from above as you take in the beauty of one of Africa’s oldest rainforests. After, return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, enjoy guided nature trails or birdwatching walks thus making this day perfect for nature lovers and photographers. After, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Return to Kigali and departure
After breakfast, depart Nyungwe for Kigali and depending on your flight schedule, take a short Kigali city tour or visit the Kigali genocide memorial for a deeper understanding of Rwanda’s history. After, you will be dropped at the Kigali international airport for your flight back home.
