DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to nyungwe national park
Your African vacation safari begins with a warm welcome at Kigali international airport. After a briefing, embark on a scenic drive through Rwanda’s rolling hills and tea plantations. Arrive in the evening, check into the lodge and enjoy dinner surrounded by the tranquil sounds of the forest.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
Rise early for an unforgettable chimpanzee trekking experience. Guided by expert trackers, hike deep into the forest. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend an hour observing the playful primates in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, take on the iconic Nyungwe canopy walkway thus offering a bird’s eye view of the lush forest, home to countless bird species and other primates. After, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Nature hike and transfer to akagera national park
Begin your day with a guided nature hike on one of Nyungwe’s scenic trails, perfect for birdwatching and exploring the parks flora and fauna. After the hike, travel to akagera national park. on arrival, check into the lodge or a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Game drives and boat safari
After early breakfast, head to the park for a morning game drive where you will spot lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras and antelopes. After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, embark on a boat safari on lake ihema where hippos, crocodiles and a variety of water birds create a mesmerizing experience. After, return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Morning game drive and return to Kigali
Enjoy a final early morning game drive to catch the parks wildlife at its most active. After, embark on the drive back to Kigali with an optional stopover at the genocide memorial or local markets before your transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
