A 4 DAYS Nyungwe tour is one of the most rewarding ways to experience Rwanda’s natural treasures. Nyungwe forest national park, located in the southwest of the country is a pristine tropical rainforest filled with primates, exotic birds, rare plant species and breathtaking scenery. Known as one of the oldest rainforests in Africa, Nyungwe offers tourists a chance to enjoy guided hikes, chimpanzee trekking, the famous canopy walk and cultural encounters.

DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to nyungwe forest national park
Your African safari begins with a warm welcome in Kigali and after a short briefing, you will set off for Nyungwe forest national park. a scenic drive of about 5 to 6 hours. On arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and birdwatching
The day starts early with a hearty breakfast before heading into the forest for an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience. Guided by park rangers, you will follow forest trails in search of these lively primates. Watching chimpanzees swinging through the trees, grooming each other and feeding in the wild is a thrilling highlight of any african vacation safari
As you trek, look out for species such as the Ruwenzori turaco, regal sunbird and the red collared mountain babbler. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, you can enjoy a short-guided forest walk or visit nearby tea plantations for a cultural encounter
Day 3: Canopy walk and nature hike
After breakfast, set out for Nyungwe’s most famous attraction, the canopy walkway. Suspended 50 meters above the forest floor and stretching 160 meters across a steep valley, the walkway offers panoramic views of the rainforest. It’s a unique way to observe wildlife from butterflies and monkeys to birds gliding through the treetops.
Later, embark on a guided nature hike along one of Nyungwe’s well marked trails. Options include the Igishigishigi trail, the Isumo waterfall trail or the umugote trail each offering different perspectives of the forest. After the guided nature walk, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Return to Kigali and departure
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before checking out of your lodge. you will drive back to Kigali with an optional stopover at Butare to explore cultural sites or enjoy a scenic break. Arrive in Kigali in the afternoon where you may visit the Kigali genocide memorial or local craft markets if time allows. Later, transfer to the airport for your flight home.
