DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
Your safari begins with a pick up from your hotel or Kigali international airport. After meeting your driver guide, you will set off on a scenic journey to nyungwe forest which takes 6 to 7 hours. On arrival at the lodge, you will check in for a relaxation, dinner and prepare for the next adventure.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
Rise early for breakfast before heading out for chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe forest. Accompanied by park rangers, you will track these intelligent primates through the forest as they play, feed and call out in their natural habitat. This thrilling experience is one of the most memorable moments of any African safari. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will embark on the famous nyungwe canopy walk, suspended 70 meters above the forest floor. From here, enjoy panoramic views of the forest canopy, birds and primates. After, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to volcanoes
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and begin your transfer to volcanoes national park in the northwest of Rwanda. The drive takes you past scenic hills and local communities with opportunities for photos along the way. On arrival, check into the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking and return back to Kigali
The final day begins early with breakfast which is followed by a briefing at the park headquarters. You will then set off in the forest in search of the gorilla family with the help of the park rangers. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch them play, groom, feed and breastfeed. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali. On arrival, you will be dropped off at your hotel or Kigali international airport for your flight back home.
