DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
On arrival at the airport, the safari driver guide will pick and later embark on the journey to Nyungwe national park. while in Kigali, you will have a short city tour where you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial, craft shops, kimironko market and many more. After the city tour, you will proceed with the journey to nyungwe national park with an enroute visit at the Ethnographic Museum a cultural treasure that offers insight into Rwanda’s heritage.
On arrival, you will check into the lodge and enjoy the fresh air and views of the misty forest and tea plantations.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk adventure
Wake up early and transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will head into the forest for the chimpanzee trekking experience in company of the park rangers. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend an hour with the chimpanzees observing them. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch and a rest.
After lunch, you will take part in the thrilling Nyungwe canopy walk on a 70-meter-high suspension bridge offering panoramic views of the forest and excellent opportunities for birdwatching and spotting monkeys in the treetops. After the canopy walk, you will return to the lodge for dinner and night stay.
Day 3: Guided nature walk and departure
After breakfast, you will take a guided nature walk on one of Nyungwe’s scenic forest trails such as waterfall trail or kamiranzovu swamp trail. While on the trail, you will spot birds, orchids and forest wildlife. After the nature walk, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation and lunch.
After lunch, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali. On arrival, you will be dropped at the airport for your flight back home.
