DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to nyungwe and coffee experience
The guide will pick you from Kigali international airport or hotel in the morning. After, you will embark on a scenic 5–6-hour drive to Nyungwe thus offering amazing views of Rwanda’s green hills and rural life. While on the drive, you will visit the Ethnographic Museum in Huye to explore Rwanda’s rich cultural heritage. On arrival, you will check into the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
In the afternoon, you will visit a local farm where you will learn about Rwanda’s coffee journey from seedling to steaming cup. Walk through the plantations, see the harvest and drying process and in the end with a fresh cup of Rwandan specialty coffee while enjoying views of tea fields and forest canopies. After the coffee experience, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will join an experienced ranger guide and venture into the forest in search of chimpanzees. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend an hour observing these energetic creatures as they play, feed and communicate in the treetops. After the chimpanzee trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
After lunch, you will enjoy the canopy walk which is a thrilling 70meter high suspension bridge that offers a bird’s eye view of the rainforest. After the canopy walk, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Nature walk and return to Kigali
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and later head out for a guided forest walk along Nyungwe’s scenic trails. While on the walk, you will spot monkeys, birds, waterfalls and ancient trees. After the guided nature walk, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali. On arrival, you will be dropped at your hotel or Kigali international airport for your flight back home.
