3 Days Nyungwe Hiking Safari
This 3-day Nyungwe hiking safari takes you deep into the lush montane rainforests of Nyungwe forest national park which is one of Africa’s most biodiverse ecosystems. Located in southwestern Rwanda, nyungwe is home to over 1,000 plant species, 13 primate species including chimpanzees and colobus monkeys and countless bird species. This safari focuses on guided forest hikes, canopy walks and primate tracking thus offering a truly immersive African safari adventure.

DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
Depending on the time of arrival, you will be picked from your hotel or airport and then later proceed with the journey to nyungwe forest national park. you will have a stopover at the king’s palace museum or national museum of Rwanda. After, you will proceed with the journey and on arrival, you will check into the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: hiking and canopy walk
Early in the morning after breakfast, head into Nyungwe forest for a guided nature hike where you will choose from different trails such as Igishigishigi trail which is short but scenic, Isumo waterfall trail or kamiranzovu which is rich in birdlife and orchids. After the hiking trail, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will head in the forest for a canopy walk which is a thrilling suspension bridge offering panoramic views of the forest. After the canopy walk, return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: chimpanzee trekking and return to Kigali
Wake up early and head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, head into the forest in search of the chimpanzees with the help of the experienced guides and rangers. Once the chimpanzee family is located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch them play, breast feed and relate with one another. After the trekking return to the lodge for lunch.
After, check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali where you will be dropped at the airport for your flight back home or any place of your convenience.
