DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Transfer to nyungwe forest
The safari guide will pick you from your hotel or Kigali international airport and embark on a 5-6hours journey southwest towards Nyungwe forest national park. while on the journey, you will have a stopover at Ethnographic Museum in Huye a cultural gem showcasing Rwanda’s history and traditions.
On arrival at the lodge, you will check into the lodge and enjoy the cool mountain air, forest views and prepare for the next day activity.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will head to nyungwe forest headquarters for a briefing. You will be assigned to one of the chimpanzee groups in cyamudongo forest. Venture into the dense rainforest in search of our closest relatives. The trek can take2-5 hours. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend an hour with them observing their natural habitat, swinging, feeding, playing and communicating in fascinating ways.
After the trek, you will return to the lodge for late lunch and relaxation. Later in the evening, you will have a canopy walk on a thrilling suspension bridge walk 70 meters above the forest floor thus offering amazing views and birdwatching opportunities. After the canopy walk, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and night stay
Day 3: Nature walk and return to Kigali
Enjoy a relaxed morning, then later head out for a guided nature walk within the forest. After the nature walk, you will return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will check out of the lodge and embark on a journey to Kigali. On arrival, you will be dropped off at Kigali international airport for your flight back home.
