2 Days Gishwati Mukura National Park
Gishwati Mukuru national park is Rwanda’s newest national park and a hidden gem for ecotourism. Known for its rich biodiversity, primate tracking and indigenous forest while on a Rwanda safari, the 2 days safari offers an immersive African vacation safari experience in one of Rwanda’s last remaining tropical forests. Encounter chimpanzees, golden monkeys, l’hoests monkeys and as well enjoy scenic hikes, birdwatching and community experiences.

DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali, forest walk and community visit
Early morning, depart Kigali for a scenic 3hours drive to Gishwati sector via Rubavu or rutsiro. Arrive at the park headquarters by midmorning and have a briefing from the park rangers and then later check into the lodge for a relaxation and lunch.
Later in the afternoon, you will embark on a guided forest nature walk for 2-3hours where you will learn about the medicinal trees, indigenous trees and conservation efforts. While on the walk, you will spot monkey species such as golden monkeys, blue monkeys and l’hoests monkeys. After the forest guided walk, you will as well visit a community based eco-tourism project where you will see traditional skills and conservation education in action. Later, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation and dinner while overlooking the forest canopy.
Day 2; chimpanzee trekking and return to Kigali
Early morning after breakfast, you will head to the park’s headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers. The trek can last 2-5hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees. Later, you will head into the forest to search for the chimpanzees, along the way, you will enjoy sightings of butterflies, birds as well as more primates. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend an hour with them as you study their behaviours, family dynamics and conservation challenges. After, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation and lunch.
After lunch, you will check out of the hotel and embark on the journey back to Kigali and on arrival late in the evening, you will be dropped at your hotel or any place of convenience thus bringing to an end of your Africa safari.
